Telephone call from manager at Sears Auto Center at Florida Mall

June 5, 2013, 12:30 pm

At the onset of the telephone call, Chris, who identifies himself as the auto center manager, states he talked with supervisor Bob and got the picture of what happened on June 4 regarding their service center losing our keys. He tells me that they interviewed the one technician who worked on the vehicle. Tech says he doesn’t remember there being more keys than one. He states that  they have turned this over to loss prevention department and that they are going to view the videotapes, statements and conduct their investigation. He states this will take approximately 48 hours.

Chris states that this RARELY happens – not NEVER happens – RARELY happens!

I relayed that Melanie had come to us evening of June 4 with a set of keys and said, “These must be another client’s keys” confirming our fears that this DOES INDEED HAPPEN EVEN MORE THAN RARELY.

Then Chris asks the million dollar question — Did anyone search the vehicle? !!!

My first question to him was: “If you got the complete picture from Bob, how can you even ask this question, because every tech, Bob, mall security men, store manager Melanie, my daughters and I searched the premises, the vehicle interior, the vehicle trunk, the vehicle under the hood, the bushes where my daughter and Bob and others discovered  a pair of discarded pants and checked the pockets — for TWO HOURS!  I asked him if he had, in fact, investigated this properly with Bob, how could he ask this question. He then revealed that he had only talked with Bob at home on the phone briefly!!!

Chris continued to interrupt me in questioning him on this and providing details to the point that he was irate and stated he was ending the call because I was upset and would call me back when they had more information.
